Space Tree's Italian Ancestry

Evidently, Space Tree The Space Tree In Space had ancestors from Italy. So perhaps that would make him an Italian-Space...ican? The evidence that follows mostly concerns the phrase "Mama mia!" (an Italian interjection literally meaning "my mother"), but there is far more evidence than that, which follows:

Cyber Space:

  • COMMANDER: {doing bad Space Tree impression} "Hello, d'jus, I'm a big idiot from space. Mama mia! My spaghetti bolognese!" Y'know?

Ash Hole:

  • SPACE TREE ACTION FIGURE: Mama Mia! Buy a shirt.

Emotional Distress

  • Space Tree's late cousin Luzini had an Italian-sounding name, owned a "pizzola" shop, and shouts "Mama mia!" to the camera at the end of this episode.

Commander in a Dress:

  • SPACE TREE: Oh, well, mama mia. I mean, dammit!
COMMANDER: Heh. I knew you were Italian.

The Giving Tree:

  • SPACE TREE: ...and what do I get in return? I get you, calling me a lying Italian Jew. Which is ridiculous 'cause I'm not even Jewish.

No Chalk Commentary:

  • COMMANDER: Yeah, but now you say, like, "Mama mia," as well.

The Italian Job:

  • The title of the episode implies that Space Tree is Italian, since the central "job" is for Allon to sneak into Space Tree's leaves while he's sleeping.
